MCJ News – There’s a new city near Surabaya that is getting famous as a Holiday City named Batu.
Located near the city of Malang, Batu is a small city in a hilly terrain. With approximately 2.5-3 hours car ride from Surabaya, the long land travel will be a small price to pay compare to what the city has to offer.
The latest development in this city is its Jatim Park facilities. They’ve made several establishment like Jatim Park I which is a theme park and Jatim Park II which focus on an amazing zoo and its animal museum.
We had the opportunity to visit Jatim Park II on this occasion.
After the long car ride, we arrived at Pohon inn Hotel, a Hotel strategically located inside the Jatim Park II. The Hotel has a shape of a tree and the view from the Balcony is straight into the Batu Secret Zoo.
The design is minimalist, equipped with air conditioner, shower, twin or King size bed, a refrigerator and a balcony. Room type starts from Deluxe to Executive rooms (equipped with a bathtub).
It also has a rotating restaurant at the lobby called the Jungle Fast Food. It allows you and your family to dine while rotating around the restaurant to enjoy the animals of the zoo like birds, deer & leopards.
The Batu Secret Zoo and The Animal Museum opens from 10am-5pm.
The zoo is very well designed for all members of the family. With an area of 14ha, it has a wide variety of habitats, from reptiles to monkeys, the flying lemur like that king in the Madagascar movie, tigers & lions, and even an Aquarium area.
It goes on a restricted path so that visitors will be seeing every exhibit in the zoo, and it’ll take 2-3 hours from the entrance to the exit.
It is also equipped with boat rides, children roller coaster, a water park for children, and food courts or food stalls.
Should you get tired of walking, renting an e-bike is also an option to consider.
The exhibits are amongst other the monkey exhibit, the savannah exhibit, Tiger Land, the Aquarium exhibits, Safari Farm, Happy Land, Fantasy Land, River Adventure, and the red flamingo exhibits.

After an all day of visiting the zoo, the museum or other sites, have a relaxing night at The Batu Night Spectacular, or more well known as the BNS. BNS offers things like the Food court with a variety of traditional
to modern food, night market for shopping, a wide variety of carnival games, the haunted mansion, 4D cinema, Lamp Garden, and much more.
And there are other interesting activities as well, like apple-picking, visiting Batu’s Batik shop, etc.
Should you consider doing all the parks and activities, a two night stay might suffice.
