Miss World is one of the oldest international beauty pageants. Held yearly since 1951, this contest is not just about beauty, but personality and intelligence as well as proven from past winners such as famed Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra. This year, the 63rd edition of the Miss World will be held for the first time in Indonesia, in Sentul International Convention Center, Bogor and Nusa Dua, Bali. This will also be the first time for the pageant to be held in Southeast Asia. The crowning day will be on the 28th of September 2013 in Sentul. MCJ is proud to announce its support for the wonderful Miss Malaysia 2013, Melinder Bhullar, as one of the final contestants. According to the the Miss World bio “Melinder grew up in Kuala Lumpur before moving to Australia to study Psychology at the University of Western Australia. An “independent, outgoing and passionate young lady” Melinder has brief experience working on television, a line of work she hopes to make a successful career in. In her spare time she visits the theatre, she enjoys Traditional Malay and Classical Indian music and cinema, and her favourite food is Nasi Lemak, a Malay delicacy.”
No stranger to beauty contests, Melinder has won subsidiary titles for Miss Metrojaya, Miss Beautiful Eyes and Miss Body Beautiful. Prior to joining Miss World, she was also actively involved in World Vision Malaysia, a charitable organization dedicated to building sustainable future for impoverished communities. A beauty with a real purpose that we hope will take home the title of Miss World 2013 and represent Malaysia as a global good looks.
